As the wound closes

As I finally settled down to enjoy the service that was live on my screen, my tongue automatically rolled over in my mouth and gently touched the blister that had grown on the inner side of my lower lip. It no longer hurt at the slightest touch. I could feel the contours of its round shape, like a small hole in the damp wall of flesh. Just this morning, placing food into my mouth would cause a jarring pain as I brushed against this little indent on in the inside. As I pondered about Your life on earth, and the whole drama of You giving Your life for my salvation, I can't help but think of the blister of sin that hurts and pricks me throughout the my days. Even as this little blister in my mouth bit me from the inside, there is something that digs into me everyday on the inside. Yet, at the end of the day, as I went about my work, ate my food, talked my share, I find the hole a little less in size, a little less prickly. The wound closes. So does Your finished work proceed which has begun its work in me. And what You started, You will see it to the end. Help me, Lord, to see the work that You have laid before me, the food You have prepared in the presence of my enemies, the water that washes all the dirt of the world. And let my eyes be on You as the wound closes, as Your work continues.
